Gavin Setzen, MD, FACS, FAAOA

Albany ENT & Allergy Services, PC Office: 518 701 2090 Dr. Gavin Setzen obtained his medical degree in Johannesburg, South Africa. After spending 2½ years in general surgery at North Shore University Hospital, Cornell University Medical College, he completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Setzen practices the comprehensive care of adult and pediatric disorders of the ears, nose, throat and related head and neck structures with special interest in allergy diagnosis and immunotherapy, rhinology, sinus and nasal surgery and endocrine surgery.

Dr. Setzen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology and Fellow of the American-Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeons(AAO-HNS), the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy the American Rhinotogic Society and the American Head and Neck Society.

Dr. Setzen is active in resident teaching, clinical research and several local and national medical & non-medical organizations. He is a clinical assistant professor of Otolaryngology at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Setzen is Secretary-Treasurer of American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and serves on the Board of Directors. He is past Chair of the Board of Governors AAO-HNS and is the current Chair of the AAO-HNS Imaging Committee. He is President of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), CT Division and is on the IAC Board of Directors. He is also President of the New York State Society of Otolaryngology.

Lawrence S. Kaufman, MD, FACS, FAAOA

Kaufman Office: 518 701 2091 Dr. Lawrence Kaufman received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Rochester, Rochester New York, where he was an honors graduate. After gaining early acceptance to medical school, Dr. Kaufman continued his education in Rochester at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. Dr. Kaufman went on to complete a five-year residency training program at Albany Medical Center in the specialty of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

During his training, Dr. Kaufman performed all aspects of surgery involving the head and neck for both pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Kaufman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He is Chief of Otolaryngology at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Siobhan Kuhar, MD, FAASM, PhD, FACS, FAAOA

Prior to pursuing her medical studies she obtained a doctorate in Microbiology and Immunology and then completed a research fellowship at Rockefeller University. Dr. Kuhar continued her education at Albany Medical College where she received her medical degree and completed a five-year residency training program at the Albany Medical Center in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. During her training, Dr. Kuhar performed all aspects of otolaryngology including the treatment of pediatric-specific ear nose and throat problems, sinus surgery, sleep apnea surgery, head and neck surgery, voice evaluation and treatment of ear related problems including hearing loss and vertigo. Dr. Kuhar has completed a fellowship in sleep medicine and has attained subspecialty certification in sleep medicine. Dr. Kuhar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Nora Perkins, MD, FACS, FAAOA

Dr. Perkins was enrolled in the Union College/Albany Medical College Seven-Year Medical Program and continued her education at Albany Medical College, where she received her medical degree. Dr. Perkins went on to complete a five-year residency training program at Albany Medical Center in the specialty of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She then joined The Rochester Otolaryngology Group in Rochester, NY. During both her training and in her previous practice, Dr. Perkins performed all aspects of surgery involving the head and neck for both pediatric and adult patients. She has a particular interest in sinus disorders and laryngology. Dr. Perkins is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Dr. Robert Engle, MD

He is proud to be serving the Capital Region, providing care for the entire scope of medical and surgical diseases of the head and neck to both adult and pediatric patients. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He has particular interest in the care and treatment of patients with chronic sinus disease, nasal obstruction, skin cancer, environmental allergies, salivary diseases, thyroid nodules, sleep apnea, chronic tonsillitis, chronic otitis media and hearing loss.

Dr. Jessica Riccio

She then continued her education and obtained her medical degree at Albany Medical College. Dr. Riccio then went on to complete her five year residency training at Albany Medical Center Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery program, where she performed all aspects of surgery involving pediatric and adult head and neck disorders. She is very happy to be providing care for her hometown community in the Capital Region. Dr. Riccio is a proud member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his residency at Albany Medical Center Hospital and received fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He is a board certified otolaryngologist and has been serving the Capital Region as a Pediatric Otolaryngologist since 2007. Dr. Gavin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. Specialinterests:vascular birthmarks,pediatric sleep disturbance, pediatric rhinosinusitis and congenital neck masses. Dr. Gavin treats all diseases of the ear, nose and throat in children.

Robert Adelson, MD, FACS

Robert Adelson Office:518 701 2091 Robert Adelson received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University, his medical degree at University of South Florida, and completed a six year residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He then undertook fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami and was the division chief of that subspecialty at the University of Florida for 5 years. To further expand his knowledge of nasal disorders, he completed a second fellowship in Rhinology/Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Adelson is certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Adelson’s practice encompasses the full spectrum of medical and surgical care for the nose and sinuses. He has particular interest in the management of nasal airway obstruction, functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, rhinosinusitis, endoscopic sinus surgery, reconstruction of nasal and facial defects, CSF leaks, sinonasal tumors, and the management of maxillofacial trauma.

He completed his residency at the University of Illinois and the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, Illinois. He is a board certified otolaryngologist and has been serving the Capital Region since 1995. Dr. Dailey has special interests in adult sinus surgery, endocrine and salivary gland surgery, as well as adult and pediatric sleep apnea. Dr. Dailey treats all diseases of the ear, nose, and throat in children and adults.

Alexander G. Bien, MD, FACS

Otolaryngology and is also certified in the subspecialty of Neurotology. He completed a 2-year fellowship in otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery at the world-renowned House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles and is a Fellow of the American Neurotology Society. Dr. Bien sees adult and pediatric patients and manages the entire scope of medical and surgical diseases of the ear and balance system. He has particular interest in management of chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma, conductive hearing loss, otosclerosis, surgical treatment of vertigo, acoustic neuromas and other skull base tumors, and cochlear implant surgery.

Office: 518 701 2091 Donna Silvernail graduated from Albany-Hudson Valley Physician Assistant Program with honors in August 2001.  Her training rotations included Pediatrics & Family Medicine, General Surgery & Emergency Medicine as well as Neurology & Orthopedics.  Since graduation, Donna has specialized in various areas of surgery.  In addition, throughout her career Donna has been involved with the development of patient treatment protocols as well as Patient Education Programs.  Donna is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  Earlier in her career, Donna also trained as a physical therapist assistant graduating from Maria College of Albany.  Donna is a current member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy as well as the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.  She has trained in the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

Maggie West-Bump, RPAC

Maggie West-Bump, RPAC- Maggie-West-Bump Office: 518 701 2090 Maggie West-Bump has been with the practice since 2006. She graduated cum laude from Siena College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1996. She then graduated with honors from the Albany Medical/Hudson Valley Physician Assistant program in 2001. Since then, she has gained extensive experience in primary care, cardiology, allergy, asthma and otolaryngology. Maggie has a special interest in patient and student education, lecturing for the Hudson Valley Community College paramedic program, Capital District Medical Assistant Society and various paramedic agencies in the area. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of several organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and the New York State Society of Physician Assistants.

She continued her education at the University of Virginia and received a degree of Master of Education in Audiology in 1999. She then practiced Audiology at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary in Boston MA, and UMAss Memorial Hospital in Worcester MA. Robyn then decided to further her career and education at Albany Medical College where she received a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2004. As a Physician Assistant, she has worked in the areas of Otorhinolaryngology and Asthma & Allergy since then. Being a Physician Assistant and Audiologist, she has a unique perspective in the management of diseases of the ear and hearing. She also has special interest in allergy, reactive airway disease and asthma, along with management of combined airway and allergy. Robyn is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Susan C. Hare, MS, CCC-SLP

Susan-Hare Office: 518 701 2087 Susan is a speech and language pathologist on staff at Albany ENT & Allergy Services. She specializes in the treatment of vocal cord disorders and voice rehabilitation for voice professionals. Susan is also a certified clinician of the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy Program, an intensive vocal rehabilitation program for patients with Parkinson’s disease. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1981 and her Masters in Science Degree in Communications Disorders in 1984 from the Pennsylvania State University. She completed an internship at the Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center and her Clinical Fellowship Year at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Susan has worked as a speech pathologist, specializing in voice and swallowing disorders at local hospitals and rehabilitation centers since 1985. She has a NYS License, a certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of both the NYS and Capital District Speech-Language-Hearing Associations.
